THE CHALLENGE

VELUX is the largest manufacturer of roof windows worldwide. The European central warehouse was moved to Sonneborn in Thuringia (Germany) in 2018, where work is now carried out in a 3-shift operation. On average, 25 truck loads with around 800 cubic meters of goods leave the warehouse every day, with around the same volume coming in. With such a high turnover, costs are an essential consideration, in addition to reliability.

THE SOLUTION

All trucks – including third-party trucks – are equipped with the I_Site fleet management system from Toyota. For more insights and transparency, all operating data from the trucks is collected through I_Site. The objective is to reduce waste, idle times, errors and damage.

THE RESULT

I_Site allows VELUX to measure the performance and utilization of its trucks to improve efficiency in key areas such as cost control, process planning and safety. In addition, it was possible to save four trucks by optimizing the fleet. Thanks to Toyota rental solutions, these are now only used flexibly as required. This allows them to manage performance peaks and troughs.
